Reason Founded

Sir Walter Raleigh considered the colony an investment. He would earn money through it by trading the raw materials found there to England, which would help grow England's economy. Settlers would set up farms, and sell their produce through the Virginia Company of London, who owned Virginia. It was set up so the Virginia Company would be at a profit, by buying produce cheap from Virginia, then selling it at steep prices in England.
